Junior went to the Dr yesterday, because he keeps having gunky eyes.  Dr says he is about 10 weeks old, in otherwise good health, a bit fat, and has a kitteh head cold.
Junior now has pink drops and eye ointment.  I can tell you he likes the pink drops MUCH better than getting eye ointment applied.
   I need more band aids.

LiveJournal needs to add a little "mood thingie" for "bleeding".

It's a good thing the Mastiff is a gentle soul. He acquired an infection last year which required (due to his size, MANY LARGE PILLS, three a day. He would not swallow them, but would sit and let you put your hand down his throat far enough he couldn't cough them back up.

So, here you are, hand and half your forearm inside this big mouth with big teeth, hoping he doesn't take offense to the whole thing.
Repeat three times a day for six months.

Aw, poor guy, hope he's all better...

Big dogs always seem to be more laid back. All Himself's family are getting these little yappers now, give me a big old roll-in-the-skunk dog any day!
Got a friend who has a girl mastiff and 3 chihuahuas - keep wanting to ask her how she keeps the chis from getting stuck in the big girl's throat.

I had a 125 pound hunting dog that was very tall and muscular. The vet gave me a bunch of huge pills to give her twice daily for a week. I did the same thing I did with my horse when I wanted him to open his mouth ... shoved a couple of fingers between her teeth and shoved the pill in. Since it was already in the back of her mouth, she swallowed it. But seriously, she was not friendly to anyone outside if myself, my husband and daughter. If anyone approached us when we walked her, she assumed the position of a wolf with a dropped head, fangs showing, and front legs spread and ready to jump them.
