Um, you might want to fix that typo there .........

And I'll second that thought.

Heh - wow, how old-time Sci-Fi fantasy of me!

It's what I get for typing in the middle of the night past my bedtime....

They originally started out white, and they show all that finger grime all too well -- and get really nasty looking .....

Mmm-hmm. Of course my black one doesn't look too good at the mo' - I tend to snack over the keyboard...

Well, I'm told you really shouldn't spill milkshakes or drop cookie/chip/sandwich/whatever crumbs in between the keys...

Mine is also, of course, liberally decorated with cat hair.

I just pop the key caps off periodically and shake out the crumbs. But, yeah. Spilling milkshakes? Not so good.

I shake mine, and vacuum it, and ATTEMPT not to drip milkshake, iced tea, apple soda... and occasionally a bowl of soup.

Thank goodness keyboards don't cost what they used to... ;-P

My FIlter Queen has a nice soft round brush attactment thingie that works pretty well... don't have one of those teensy computer-geek vacs, though. Could use one, then Himself could suck cat hair out od the CPUS now and then!

depends -- what's the problem? (Yesterday was my Nightmare Day -- lecture 9:30-10:45; 11:00-12:15; lab from 1-2:50 and 3-4:50 .... then collapse ...)

Wow, here I am, my Intarwebz was broke all day yesterday....

Himself has a laptop, which he bought used from somebody, which had some sort of hiccup with the Windows XP. He tried to fix it by re-installing with the Windows XP disk from my PC. It asked for a registration number. He gave it the registration number from the disk.

Now it won't let him "in" at all, to do anything. Any ideas? Besides, of course, hit it with a big big hammer? He is very sad that his new "toy" is broken.....

More than likely, there's a hardware key of some sort on your PC that the CD talks to. It therefore *knows* that this is not the right computer -- so it must be a bootleg copy of WinXP.

You need to see if you can get the Original WinXP disk from the folks that you got the computer from -- or hit up the Computer Mfg to see if you can get another copy of WinXP from them.

Ah-hah! That makes sense to me - I'll tell him that. Would it work to have a brand shiny new XP from somewhere?

I suspect that it probably would. eBay might be a good place to look.

Thank you! It was a good day :) After all, how many people have their birthday on the first day of Autumn? :)

Was a good day for it here - some not-too-hot sun, then a gentle rain.

None of us have "good" birthdays, but our anniversary is (usually) on the first day of spring...
