Little-bitty puddle kitty died.  He started wheezing this morning - I think aspiration pneumonia from that puddle was too much for him.
Thanks for the 2 days, little guy.  We loved you while you were here....

The Met (where she lives) lists her as "Unknown Lady by Netherlandish Artist". I collected her because she is not wearing her false sleeves, giving us a look at her shift embroidery.

ahhhh (said with a downward intonation) - the universal prayer for the soul of an animal that has died. It seems to be the natural reaction when seeing a poor animal at the side of the road, for instance.

So sorry it did not live..

Realistically, didn't expect him to - but hoped, and he really tried...
but he was warm, and fed, and cuddled to the end. Sigh. Am too old and stress-reactive for this stuff....

He was loved before he went. This was good, and I am sorry his time was so short.

Thanks. Don't know quite what to do with myself. Guess we can thank God that Tink is healthy and bouncy and a pain in the butt -
one out of 3 is really pretty good orphan-rescue odds.

We loved you while you were here

And how many animals do not have that?

Blessings on you and itty bitty puddle kitty.

Someday, you will be greeted by many many friends at the Bridge...

Yes. Ours, and Big Tough Jarheads who cry over them as they dig little graves, poor guy. It's hard to be tough and a marshmallow at the same time.

I've also dug graves for old cats and babies and couldn't see for the tears. At least he died with your kindness and being loved -- more than some people have.
I cried when I read your post.

I know what you mean - we've lived in this house for 18 years, the "pet cemetery" is getting pretty sizeable, sigh...

I'm still bawling off and on. I think two little deaths in less than two weeks has been too much for me, and I'm tired out.

But I would pick up another one tomorrow, if I heard it crying.

Of course you'd pick up another homeless kitten -- so would I even though I don't want to raise more cats.

My friend [info]wolfma in Georgia has found a few strays off and on and lost a couple of them. She takes it as hard as you or I and other loving people do.

I truly believe God sends these helpless little kittens to people he knows will love and try to help them.

I'm so sorry -- but they all said what I was going to. You loved him before he died. He wasn't alone in some puddle.

Thanks. I do wonder if I did him any favors - but surely a couple of days of warmth and petting are worth something, I hope.

Himself says I'm not to "find" anything else, it's too rough on me. That's easy to say, though, when there ain't nothing to find - he's as bad as I am.

We tried, and so did he. He was cuddled in Himself's hands when he died.
