Inhabited InterlaceI'm Sorry, What Was I Saying? |

That's looney, alright. Or aggressively misinformed.
"Aggrssive" being the keyword in pretty much ALL her mis-informations... :-0 Here's the text in question-
"I beg to differ. Last summer we had a long discussion on coifs and it never came up that these coifs were worn by men. If a man wears a cap in the day time, let's call it a cap and not a nightcap, and if he wears it under a helmet, call it arming cap if you will, but coifs are for women. Coifs are these things that lie flat. The caps are fitted and do not lie flat. Look at the reference books for details (Gostelow, Drysdale etc.) I know it's trendy to cross dress and whatnot but let's call a spade a spade and a cap a cap if you don't mind, and leave the coifs to the so-called fair sex." Uh-HUH.
Bad buttonology...
This is the same person who, in the above-named discussion last summer, basically told Attack Laurel and others they didn't know how to make a "coif", and that all the museums display them wrong, and and and. Yes, we definitely COULD call a spade a spade, but it would be RUDE. ;-P
Coifs lie flat? What is she talking about?
I don't much care what anybody calls 'em, but the white, fitted (or sometimes not fitted) thing that ties or buttons onto the head is what I call a coif, and both sexes seem to have worn them. If anything, men wore them more often in the middle ages, the women usually having veils and wimples. Let's call them an Orange just to confuse people.
Mmm-hmm. In her mind, the only "coifs" are the 16th-century blackworked things displayed in most museums un-constructed and laid flat so one can see the embroidery, and the word applies to nothing else. EVAH.
Methinks she has slipped her meds again... The best piece of advice I ever got, back innadawnatime, was that the words "never" and "always" will make you look like an idjit faster than anything else you will say in your entire life.
...
You need to stop lacing her water with crack, I swear.
Heh. This is the same person who is afraid of PURPLE, you might recall from last summer.
Hmmm. maybe it's the heat.
Sweet mother of pearl, what a lunatic! A cap is the hat you wear *over* the coif. The coif is that nice linen garment that protects your hat/cap from all the icky stuff your head produces.
*headdesk* And it's folks like that who propagate massive amounts of information that gets repeated by well-meaning newbies who dont' know any better. Sadness!
Yes. That, especially. She also asserts that blackwork was brought to England by Catherine of Aragon - PERSONALLY. It NEVER existed there before, and didn't just become the style (influenced by the new Spanish folks and the growing fashion for showing more "undies" ) C of A apparently TAUGHT everybody in England HOW TO DO IT AND IT WAS COUNTED AND REVERSIBLE TOO SO THERE. ;-)
Alight, so call them a biggin, and make her wear one in the corner with the other children.
Oooo, mercy upon us, I think not that we should inflict her upon the children...
but maybe the biggins, turned backwards to cover the troublesome parts?
Didn't keep up with the list this weekend, I see I have something to look forward to :).
Heh. I saw you. How DARE you assault her certainties with FACTS?!?
:-) :-) ;-P :-0 :-)
ok. I missed it -- this isn't the same person that touted That Elizabethan Coif telling us that we were wearing them all wrong is it?
Yepper, your favorite list member... heh heh heh
rolls eyes. Should I go back and look?
Nah. If you scroll up the comments here, I quoted her in entirety - not nearly as - INTERESTING - as the "I am scared of purple and Christians and how dare you call yourself X" rant. :-P
nods. I did read that. I don't remember the fear of purple -- but I do remember everything else.
something about being followed by people in purple cars...
I wonder if the periods of quiet indicate medication....
dear, I believe that was your Outside Voice.
Heh. I prolly need some medication too. WHat do you reckon is the Rx for snarki-itis?
Hang out with a classier group of people!
Aw, but shug I'd miss y'all all ssoooooooooo bad...... ;-D
blows raspberry at Liadain. Wish I could remember how to spell it!
Phfffffffffffthbbt!!11!!
Laughing evilly and running away.....
Yeah. That's pretty good. I just know that Bill The Cat could do it right.

Oooooooo, EVERYBODY needs a Bill the Cat icon!
I miss Bill the Cat....
nods. I miss Opus and Steve more than Bill, but still .....
